I have a yellow buckeye tree in the front yard that always puts out a small quantity of nuts, but I can't get any. The squirrels discover the nuts ripening every summer and clean the tree of nuts overnight. I figured that the nuts are especially prized by the squirrels. Does anybody know for sure if this is true? Any suggestions as to how I can get some of them myself before the squirrels get them?

According to this article, they are poisonous except to squirrels. How about that? I had never heard of them so I had to look them up.
