My cat seems more focused on wanting to eat lately, so I just wondered if cats are hungrier when the weather gets cold... She is also on a new food, so it could also be that she just loves it.
I'm not sure if weather has anything to do with a cat's appetite. I think that a cat will eat more than it needs, if it's not sure it will have another good meal again (eg. a homeless/stray), or if it is bored ( eg. not enough exercise or toys to play with).
I also read that cats are opportunists when it comes to food.
They'll take advantage of a good chance for a treat.
Yes, unless their environment is strictly climate controlled. Otherwise they naturally eat more and put on a thicker coat and a layer of fat for the winter.
