We have three cats, one a 3 month old kitten called Mylo. He is pretty full on with the older two cos he just wants to play. And then play a bit more so we are using various toys to distract him which is working. A friend gave us a lazer pen which projects a little red light for him to chase along the floor ( not shining it directly on him obviously ) but I am a bit reluctant to use it. I know it not a good idea for dogs as it can overstimulate them and leave them fixated on chasing light. Does anyone know if the same is true for cats or would it be ok to play with it with him?

It is fine to use this to play with him, but after a bit of laser play, it is good to let him then have a toy he can actually catch. Something like a wand toy would be good for this. This avoids any frustration he may feel at not being able to "catch" the light.
