if price is no object..which wet and dry cat food would the expert-types here recommend? i'm just curious. i feed Wonton Chefs Blend for dry, and Fancy Feast for wet. are those ok brands?
I personally think at least some wet food is a good thing. It's a good source of water which is important as most cats don't drink enough water, esp as they get older. Not drinking enough water can contribute to the formation of crystals as the urine is concentrated. I also think good quality wet food is better than even the best dry food as the latter still contains a lot of carbs which is not ideal for a carnivore.Originally Posted by sarahp
Is there a need to feed wet food? To me, wet food is a treat rather than a necessity, so Stumpy just gets Iams Original, and some dental "treats" during the day and catnip.
I never used to feed my cats wet until I came here and learned that it was supposed to be better for the cats, i now feed Meow mix pouches in the evening and I have NEVER had cats with as beautiful as coats as my cats do now, so I vote for at least one daily feeding of wetOriginally Posted by sarahp

Science Diet contains by-products which is why a lot of members don't serve it.... and I forgot to answer your question of something w/o chicken... if you're talking a replacement for the WET fancy feast, I can suggest Meow Mix pouches, the first ingredient is meat and they make a few varieties with out chicken, very reasonably priced alsoOriginally Posted by ggg5312
It is by Royal Canin (venison and green peas). They took over IVD. I switched Penny to it but have to add FF to the bowl so that she will eat the wet food. If she does well I might stop the venison and go with FF fish kind only. BTW, is Hill's Sceince Diet not on the very good dry food list in this forum? My local cat experts use it for their cats and when they are older they switched to C/D.

Life's Abundance was the first food I bought that all of mine dived into like Uncle Scrooge McDuck into liquid gold. They absolutely loved it and I wrote the company about how much that impressed me.Originally Posted by reddicequeen
I tried all of the foods mentioned and Life's Abundance wet and dry are the only foods Remy can tolerate. He gets gas, diarrhea constipation from all of the others. He loves the wet . I give him a can a day spread over 3x and then free feed him the dry. He's a big boy at 16 lbs and he will be a year old this month. No fat at all on him...
