My cat has asthma. In 2016 I got an Aero Kat and gave him medications. At first I cleaned it weekly. But, I am horrified to admit... I completely have forgotten about cleaning it... with everything going on - I just brain farted about it. I don't know the last time I cleaned it. I think it was in 2020 when I was working. But not during the pandemic. Also, I never replaced the mask since I have purchased it.

I just recently have been noticing sort of a discharge from my cat's eyes and he looks like he has trouble opening his eyes in the daylight without them running.

Could he have some sort of upper respiratory infection from my failure to clean it?

I purchased a new one and I cleaned the old one.

It's possible, certainly. Does the mask get pretty close to his eyes? I know depending on each cat's face, it can get pretty close. Does he have congestion along with the eye issue? If not, it may not be an URI, but could still be just an eye issue. I'd give the Vet a call to discuss.
