After having had my ponies for 5 years just as pets, I have decided it is time to get them into work. So I bought a secondhand small saddle and have started them getting used to it. Maisie was a star, but I expected that, as I knew she had been ridden and also done some harness work before I got her. But Tartine and Tiffin have never been backed, though they are fine on a lead rein and in head collars. So I was a bit anxious. But Tartine watched me tack up Maisie and when her turn came she just stood there calmly, even when I tightened the girth. I walked her round the field and she was as good as gold. Tiffin was definitely anxious watching his mother and sister, but followed us round, sniffing this strange object. Here is Tartine, as calm as can be, I will see if I can do Tiffin the same tomorrow.
