I have an old (really old, like 30+ years old, maybe) pair of Dr. Scholl's sandals. In blue. I've worn those things into the ground and then some. These are the sandals that I'm constantly falling out of; they're stretched way out of shape and the bottoms are so worn that the wood is showing through. The last time I fell down the basement steps, it was because I fell out of the sandals and ended up in a clump at the bottom of the steps at the basement door, carrying a load of laundry. It was ugly. Yet....I still wear them. Around the house, out for the mail. Never in public as "ratty" doesn't even begin to describe them.
And....they're on my feet. And I'm at work. This is embarrassing to say the least. I put my pair of capris on and I distinctly remember taking off those sandals to put the pants on. I was going to walk over to the computer room (my closet is there) and grab a pair of sandals, but evidently thinking about it was as far as I got.
I got out of Clarence this morning and, as soon as I started walking through the parking lot and heard the clunk-clunk-clunk-clunk (they're really, really LOUD), I knew. And mentally, I'm going
. Walked into the building and the guy in the lobby said he heard me walking a mile away. My GF was in the lobby and she looked at my feet, her eyes got big, and she said, "What the **** are you wearing?" I shook my head, said, "Don't even go there!" and walked away. Loudly.
I hate Mondays....even when they're Tuesdays.
