I've never posted about him on this site but he was one of our 3 'foster' kitties that were left behind when his owners decided to move. He was about 15 when they left a couple of years ago and we took him in to give him a home. We never knew his medical background.
Dancing Bear 1994 - 11/30/2011
Dancing Bear crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge today (November 30 2011) at about 11:25 am with the help of his vet.
His body was just too tired to go on anymore even though his mind wasn't ready yet. His blood sugar went up too fast in the last few months and when he went in a few weeks ago (when we noticed a sudden change in water intake and weight loss in the last few weeks), even if we were to have started the insulin shots it still may not have had much, if any, affect on his health.
I feel like such a bad mom for not trying harder. If only ...........
:sad2
He was only with us for about 2 years (his owners just left him and the brothers behind when they moved). Maybe he had it all along and we didn't know..............
He is such a sweet cat who loved attention, combing, baths, any kind of food (esp. tuna and baby food) and treats (he'd hear the bag rattle and come running from the other end of the house demanding to have his share 'NOW' - his meow even sounded like NOW).
He is one of our 3 bullies (if you will) although he was never mean or hurt anyone - he just liked to keep Fang on his toes (he never harassed anyone but Fang.) We'll have to see who takes his place. (The other tormenter of Fang is Lil' Jag) We're lucky that none have been hurt (other than ego, stress and some fur loss - no injuries needing meds, stitches or separation.)
I'm sure that the cats are going to miss him some (some more than others) when they realize he's not coming home. Buster is probably going to miss him the most because they were buddies. Even Smudge looked up to him as a big brother.
We're having him cremated (like we did with Sphinx) and having his ashes returned in a cedar urn.
Rest in Peace young man. He's now dancing - young, pain free and healthy again at the RB with all of the others - waiting to be with their families again.
