My Max has a small warning system like that built into him as well, but none of the others seem to.

Blondie Rumpleteaser has a "I'ma gonna throw up" sound she makes too. Sort of like a warbling meow. It's the same sound for hairballs too. She's been checked medically several times, and always gets a clean bill of health.

I'd rather hear a small cry then the tell tale sign of I only know how to describe it as "glug glug glug" when they're just about to spew....and everyone's running around....and no one's putting the cat on the lino and then ahhhh nice spewies on the carpet!


I also appreciate it when they do it in the litter tray (very rarely, although it's probably just a "2 birds with 1 stone" type thing)
