Ok, so I tried the cowboy stew today! I added some carrots. It's soooo good.. I highly recommend it to everyone

Also got the Canadian slow cooker book...looks like some good stuff. I've decided to go through, and mark all of the pages that sound good and then anytime I don't know what to cook, just flip to one of my tabbed pages.

I also refer back to this thread every so often...Thanks again guys!

One of my favorites it to brown some ground beef with minced garlic (as much or as little as you like) and half a lrg sweet onion (my grnd beef comes in two pound packages).

I dump that into my small crockpot, along with baby carrots cut into bite sized pieces, the other onion half, diced, 1 can of green bean (drained), or 1 sm pkg of mixed frozen veggies.
2 cup beef broth (I make mine using bullion), and 32 ounces of spicy V-8, salt/pepper to taste.
I also add semolina stars (about 1/2 cup) about an hour before dinner.

It's hearty, and delicious and just spicy enough to clear the sinuses.

I absolutely love making this in the winter.
