Thanks everyone for all your replies. I think I'll go invest in a "starter kit" and see for myself. I think I'll be better off someone showing me how to do it rather than reading a book though. I'll find the closest JoAnn's and see if they offer and if yes then when their classes are.

Most of the craft stores that sell yarn will offer classes. Our town's parks and rec department also offers classes.

I have made 20 scarves in the last year for my daughter - knit only. Some with two or three threads at a time - not hard at all. I even figured out a good way to work with the eyelash yarn. I'm going to take a class this summer.

I want to learn to crochet.

I actually taught myself to tat (I found a shuttle in my grandmother's things), but I wish I could find someone who could give me pointers. It really goes slowly for me so all I end up with are Christmas ornaments.

I crochet and really enjoy creating my own designs (mainly toys)
Like most everything crochet is easy once you get the hang of it

Here's a link to a crochet guide that is a pretty good tutorial on how to make the stitches, there is also video clips of how to do each stitch

Well I remembered that my close friend's mom crochets (and knits) so she is going to be teaching me. She's gonna go buy me yarn and things so in case I don't want to continue with it, she can. This will be the closest thing at calling me "domestic" lol.

I used to crochet, but for some reason, just stopped. I have been considering picking it back up again. I have my SO's grandmother's hooks and such so all I would have to get is a little yarn to practice with.
The pics of all the lovely projects have inspired me. even if I just make doll clothes for my my granddaughter's dozens of dolls, it would be good to do it again.
