I was sleeping this morning when Alex began yowling very loudly from his perch in the corner. I woke up and he was starring right at me, ears back, tail rigid, with hius body arched back. He slowly got up, continuing to yowl, made his way to the bed and yowled looking right me. He continued to stalk the room for minutes and then began to calm down. Wondering if anyone had some ideas what may have caused that.

That is always the first thing to think of. (above)

Is there a window by his corner perch? It also sounds like the way cats act when they hear/smell a strange cat or dog or killer dragon etc around. Was he walking very slowly and cautiously as well, kind of like he was in slow motion and stiff?

If he seems all better now, try petting him on all parts of his body with a bit of pressure, like you're trying to feel his ribs, etc. If he doesn't act like any of its uncomfortable and is eating / drinking water / peeing / pooing / playing like normal it is probably that. Keep a close eye on him though!
