OK, so I admit, I was the one that left the door open...
I heard a giant crash a little while ago that shook my house, and I knew right away it was cat-caused, so I went upstairs to look for the mess...and found nothing.
A while later (after having gotten caught up in unpacking my latest delivery from Petfooddirect.com, I went downstairs to start my load of laundry, and THAT'S when I saw it.
The mess in the downstairs bathroom. Specifically, IN THE TUB.
I never use that shower, instead, the floor of the tub has a large petmate mat in it, and a litterbox on top of the mat.
Because I never use the shower, I had placed a large piece of plywood up over the shower pole, supported by the top of the shower stall, and used it for storage. I had a tent, some tools, two gallons of paint and the covers to three litterboxes stored up there. KEY WORD: "had."
Someone (MAXWELL
the crazy monkey bengal) had jumped up there, and caused the board to go off-balance, dumping everything into the tub and litterbox below. The two gallons of paint fell just right: one crushed the other, causing it to pop open, spilling its contents, a WHOLE gallon of paint, into the tub.
Not a drop spilled into the litterbox; instead, it all spilled onto the litter mat, making the litterbox a small island in a tiny, white paint sea.
The tent got paint on it and is ruined, but one gallon of paint is still intact. It was latex, and it was ALL in the tub, so I was able to get the litter mat into a trash bag with a full gallon almost completely held intact, and then was able to shower everything else off with hot water.
Ahhhh, I am still wiping my tears from laughing my butt off.
It could have been SOOOOOO much worse. There COULD have been a painted cat leaving little painted footprints all over the carpets in this house that I do not own.
What a morning. Just wanted to share.
