People my mom knows who have gone to mexico have given me some good advice:
1. Tan before you go
2. bring tons of suntan lotion
3. Never bring anything valuable to the beach (because of the fine sand)
4. Never give money to the beggars (I wouldnt mind doing it but I know they swarm and mob you then)
5. Never drink the tap water, only drink water from a recognizable brand of water.
Anyone else have anything I should be aware of?
Like... What things in mexico would be considered rude if you did them, but not in America/other countries?
I already know to bring my own things such as washcloths, and I am preparing for some colder showers, I have a list I made up, combined from things I know I will need, and things the pamphlet told me to bring (washcloths)
I dont feel comfortable in shorts, but people keep telling me to forget the pants and bring shorts... I only have one pair of shorts, should I buy more???
Anyone have any advice on things I might have to buy??
I have to buy some clothes anyways, so I am spending a bit of my graduation money to prepare for this trip.
I speak spanish ok.. ive had five years of it.. our teacher is fluent in spanish.. so no problem with communication.. Anything I should avoid bringing? I am not bringing more than one book, and only my camera and film, no other electronics.. maybe a camcorder if I can borrow one from somebody...
Help would be appreciated
Thanks!
:O I get to go on Isla de las Mujeres... the mother islands...
Does anyone know if I would be allowed to do things like swimming with the dolphins.. if I cant swim?? I have tried and tried to learn how to swim, but I just cant. I am excited to see the ocean also!
