Hello, my 15 year old cat received a convenia injection on 6/21. He was showing signs of an URI (sneezing clear discharge, squinting eye) but no definitive bacterial infection was confirmed. The injection was 'preventative.' He has been diagnosed with stage 2 CKD, anemia of chronic disease, IBD, and asymmetric septal hypertropy & grade 3 heart murmur by a IM specialist and cardiologist. The vet who gave him the injection was his primary vet but is aware of these diagnoses. He is also currently taking 5 mg transdermal prednisolone every other day for IBD. I am horrified at what I am reading about the adverse effects of convenia. He has seemed okay since the injection, just more sleepy than usual. He is eating. My concern and question is: at what point can I stop worrying that he will have an adverse reaction? I am aware this stays in their system up to 65 days but at what point can I stop worrying? If he were to have an adverse reaction, would he have had it by now? I have been watching him like a hawk since Wednesday...Any insights you can share would be so appreciated! Thank you!
