Hi, my cat has had this mark on her face for around 3 weeks now, it began healing hence why I never took her to the vet, but she’s continuously scratching it with her foot and her nails making it bleed & weep. Does anyone know what this could be? She’s indoor so eradicates a lot of things that jump to mind when they are out door.

Ouch! That's big, and it looks like it's infected.

I don't think we can diagnose this. I recommend a vet appointment ASAP.

Margret
It started of small, got a little bigger then healed over and then just got worse and bigger after she had been kicking at her face. I’m gonna call my vet today.

Can you have your cat wear a cone to prevent scratching?
Yes, she has a cone but she swings about with it on. I’ve put it on her for just now she’ll just need to deal with the cone until the vet calls me back.

I was using a liquid that the vet gave me previously for a different mark on her face which was similar but cleared up after a few days. I’m waiting on a call back from the vet just now and see if they tell me to come down with her.

Hi, to all the were concerned about my cat as well as myself.. I took her to the vet about her face and she basically said it’s something she’s coming into contact with at home. Nothing in her life has changed from the day I got her, her diet hasn’t changed, as far as I know she’s not allergic to anything. I believe she’s had a hot spot and she’s just not stopped scratching it. She’s had a cone on for about 3 weeks now. It’s healing so slowly hopefully completely clear in another week. NOW she has a cut, Or a scab on her ear that just seems to be travelling down her ear. Can anyone tell me what this is? I am exasperated with her as it’s one after the other.

Cats can develop allergies as people can and they can have reactions to things around the house they weren't exposed to often. Essential oils are bad, scented candles, soaps, carpet cleaners (these will make dogs and people as well as cats itch), new cleaning products, powders, your cosmetics, anything sprayed in the air - air fresheners and the like. Plants even those on the outside that are close to a window you leave open.

If you're going to be exasperated, I think you should be toward the vet and not your cat, who is the victim of who knows what. I would seriously consider another vet, one who is actually interested in discovering what is happening to your cat.

Yes I understand they can be allergic to anything but what do I do to figure out what is causing it? Just stop using candles, air fresheners and everything? Any cleaning products I buy I do try to get pet safe ones. I’m not exasperated WITH her it’s the entire situation. This has been going on for nearly a month now. It has cleared up a little due to her wearing a cone. Yes that’s my issue as well the vet I’m with just now doesn’t seem to be interested or helpful. As I said there isn’t much in her life or in my day to day life that has changed, I obviously try and keep her away from everything. They just gave her steroids to stop infection.

I would remove anything scented thing, like the oils and candles, wrap them up in a box and seal it with strapping tape, if you don't just toss them. Wait a month or so and if her skin clears up, then try one thing at a time and see how her skin reacts to having it out. Essential oils are rather poisonous for cats, so you might want to re-think having them in the house. Also, check out all plants you have if they are poisonous or not. Some are very dangerous, lilies can kill cats.

Many of us use baking soda, white vinegar, and dishwashing detergent for cleaning, nothing else. Be careful with your laundry detergent. Mom said she just couldn't figure out how to keep the box closed to keep the cat out of it. Cat died of liver disease, the vet thought it was caused by eating the powdered laundry detergent. I don't know, but that's what they said.

I would get rid, or put away, anything that could be an allergen for about a month just so you can be sure that there is not some hypersensitivity to something. If that works, you will then have to figure out what it was that caused the problem.

Do you have access to a veterinary dermatologist? Sometimes a specialist can cut to the chase much faster and save you money, along with more stress, in the long run.

Is the scab on the ear similar to the mark on the face? I can't tell from the original pic if there was a crust along the edge in the beginning.

That lesion, in my humble opinion, looks like a lesion from sun exposure. Your cat has white ear, and sunlight can be a real danger for white cats, or cats with white ears and nose.
That dark scab on the lesion is suspicious to me.

Hi, well yeah my partner suggested that as she was sitting in the sun just the other day. I was also told when I first got her that because she’s white/pink she’ll get burned easily.

Ok, I do have a lot of scented stuff so I’ll get rid of it and put it all away and see how we go with that. Hopefully it is that and not something more serious.

No her ear was fine and clear up until about 2 days ago, just as her face was clearing up. I have also been told that her being in the Sun could be the cause.

Given the time frame of the ear, I had wondered about that as well. A white cat in the sun can spell trouble if they are not monitored. If the ear scabbing is just beginning, the vet should take a look at it. If it were to be skin cancer, and I am not saying that it is, it can be dealt with easily in an early stage and without a huge expense.

Yes, I’ll need to take her to the vet so they can confirm if it’s sunburn or not. Yes i have read a few things online that white cats have a lot of skin conditions due to them being pink skinned
