Concerned about changes in our cats eyes

I have noticed that our cat 'Duke' has developed a darker ring on the outside of his iris on both eyes. He is ten. It's not really dark but we think it's getting a little bit darker gradually. He's not unhealthy and appears to be able to see quite well but we're just concerned that it could be early signs of something as one of our other cats had changes in his eyes before he died. Anyone who knows anything about this, we would be really greatful of any information.

Bottom line is, get kitty to a vet ASAP.
