I did this once, when I started getting a cold 2 days before a really big surgery I was supposed to have. I knew I wouldn't be able to have surgery if I had a cold, so...
I drank 4 gallons of liquid one day, 2 gallons the next. (by the second day, I was peeing constantly) BUT the cold TOTALLY went away. About half of the liquid was water, about half was chicken soup. I was too full to really eat anything, and the soup helped. I swear it worked! BUT I've never done it again, as that whole peeing thing the second day was a bit crazy.
