I posted earlier this week that my boy Grigio had his teeth cleaned on Monday and the vet prescribed follow up with Clavamox. Grigio seemed fine and took the meds easily. Today (Wednesday), he suddenly threw up white foam and became lethargic. He lay in his bed, just staring, with the tip of his tongue protruding. I could not get him to respond to me, so I phoned the vet, and they told me to bring him in. By this time, he was also drooling.
They were great at the animal hospital, and the vet agreed with me that it must be a reaction to the Clavamox. The sudden change in this vibrant, healthy cat was truly scary.
I just phoned for an update, and they want to keep him for the night. The hospital is staffed at night with a DVM as well as techs, so I'm confident that he's in good hands. He seems to be responding (they told me that he was watching them, and that's my boy--he is usually curious and interested in his surroundings), and I hope this was just an allergic reaction. Anyone know of a cat who had a reaction to Clavamox?
