I lost my darling Cinnamon, an Ocicat, this past Saturday. The tests only came back today, but she had FIP. I've been doing some research today, and I find that it is one of the most insidious of viruses that cats can get. There is no cure, and the test for it is not always accurate. There is a vaccine, but it's not well proven. The disease is always fatal, and kittens and the elderly are the most susceptible. Cats can be exposed either outdoors or at the breeders. Cinnamon was fine up until a couple of weeks ago, then she started looking extremely scrawny, and her ears turned yellow. I took her to the vet last week and she went downhill fast. By Saturday morning, her kidneys had shut down and she passed away.
She was my very special baby...we had a bond not shared by my other cats. She followed me everywhere, and always talked to me. I will never forget her.
