On June 4th I found a 4 week old kitten on the side of the highway with a terrible eye infection. The eye was bulging out of his head and was filled with pus. After 2 days of cleaning, it went down 3/4 in size and drained, and I was finally able to get him in to see a vet. They prescribed medicines for his eye and it cleared up so much that it because clear his eye was actually an under developed birth defect that never formed and got infected. It was fine, closed up on itself and he just became a normal one eyed kitten. The past few days I've noticed he's become very stinky. I mean it's...pungent. I checked his eye after many baths and found his eye has developed a chunky white substance under his lid. I cleaned it out and unfortunately I won't be able to get him to the vet until Friday but I was hoping to get some help on how to clean this up for now. I'm definitely used to taking care of cats, strays and such. But not one with an eye like this. I remember the vet suggesting saline but I wanted to be sure I'll make the correct decision in cleaning his eye properly and whether he'll need the underdeveloped eye removed. Thanks.
