I woke up and put on the history channel because there was an America Eats program on the history of chocolate. There was chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate. I got so hungry that I put the TV on mute so that I could read my email.
The show mentioned two of our local chocolate makers, Ghirardelli and Scharffen Berger. Of course, I have been to both.
The next show, on now, is about ice cream. Did you know that local Dreyers made the first Rocky Road? Or that the man who got the franchise for Good Humor in Chicago refused to pay the mob for protection? They blew up 10 of his trucks.
Now they are talking about Carvel. Their headquarters are in my hometown. Yum!
Next commercial, I am going right to the freezer for ice cream. I already ate two dark chocolate Ghirardelli squares.
It's a commercial. Gotta go!
