I checked on the cat's microchip registrations and found that somehow there was a mistake that made JC's revert to the rescue he came from. I called them and had it fixed. Please, if you have pets, get them chipped and make sure it stays updated. After the tornado we recently had I have seen first hand how much good chips do in reuniting lost pets with their owners.

Ours have Home Again and Avid because those are what the rescue and shelter gave them. I don't prefer one to the other but the Home Again one is who I just had to fix.

I agree! An outdated chip is just as good as no chip at all.

It also doesn't help if they vets don't scan new patients, regardless if they know the people or not. With pet thefts on the rise, if vet clinics don't scan each and every pet when they are seen for the first time then there goes the purpose of the chip. I know some clinics scan, but just as many don't.
