Good evening all.
Some days I feel like I've failed my kitty by not paying more attention to what I feed him. Other days I feel like I'm the nicest friend to give him wll the wet and dry food his tummy desires.
Anyways, hes not doing well at this point...not entirely because of the leukemia but because of his back/tail (there is a thread in "Behavior" about it). Anywho, I took him to the vet and he was retested and is still positive for FeLV.
I want to change his diet in hopes of giving him more nutritious foods rather than "good-tasting" foods and I sort of want to try home-cooked foods (chicken, turkey, eggs, etc.). He is currently being fed dry Purine One and Iams mixed with wet Friskies pate. Way back when we first saved him, we (my family and I) were first time cat owners and didn't know what to give him so we mixed dry and wet food together in hopes of fattening him up (he was a feral that came up to our door). Well, I know I should've changed his diet, mainly because he has bad teeth now. I know, I'm a bad friend for spoiling him rotten (literally )...but I just didn't.
So now, as I'm looking to change his diet...I want to get rid of wet food but that's where he gets his "water" because he's not much of a water drinker. Any suggestions on what I should do? I could cook up some chicken broth? Idk, I'm lost and in need of help.
Thank you.
