Hi,
I'm new here, so bear with me if i do something wrong.
About a month ago, my cat Daisy finished a course of clindamycin to treat gingivitis. While she was on it, she started developing diarrhea, so my vet prescribed the probiotic Proviable and told me to mix some pumpkin in her food. I gave it to her for ten days (got to the last pill a few days after finishing the antibiotic) and it helped with the consistency. But her poo was still a lighter color than nornal, and has been ever since. I've been giving her probiotics intermittently to see how it helps, but have seen no change. Sometimes the stool is soft, but mostly it is firm and well-formed. Just... light brown (sometimes very much so) and somewhat smelly.
I've called the vet and he couldn't care less about it.
Today i checked the litter box and it is worse than usual. The stool is very soft and parts of it are yellow.
Does anyone have any ideas for how I can combat this? I really don't want to have to deal with the vet again. Would more probiotics help? Is there something else I can do, or anything that has worked for you?
Oh, and it's probably worth mentioning that I have put her on a new brand of canned food this past week. It's the same brand as her dry food (Blue Buffallo), which she has been eating all her life.
Thanks!
