Hi i am looking for something that will help with these bugs, that i can bath my cat in. Everything that works on people is toxic to cats the only thing i can use at the moment is the regular flea and tick treatment and colloidal silver, the best thing to use are; garlic, tea tree oil, epison salts, apple cider vineger (they really hate that i'm sure a cat will too), cayenne pepper, and anything with high ph. I need to bath her to reduce these things on her she is starting to go crazy. The vet didn't believe me and just gave me ear mite drops but these things are all over under side and the vet said the odd looking hair groth was due to old age. But the vet doesn't under stand when you see these fibers shoot out of your skin for your self you would think i'm a nut case, but you should see what comes out of my skin after a hot tea tree oil and Epson salt bath it's like poison for them i want to bath her too to break this cycle.

That on her back leg. sorry for the bad photo i'll try to get some better ones but regular hairs don't grow twice as long and move and stand up strait(in other places)

I'm sure some one has heard of something over there not even our own dept of health know about this.

Have you tried revolution drops between shoulder blades kills fleas and worms. Switch her to grain free canned to cut down on itchiness, remove dry food. Also try anti fungal antibacterial shampoo. Wash her bedding in borax at hot temps.

Hi, I'm not sure what Morgellions are. Do you mean the cat seems to be imagining something that is irritating her or can you actually see something on her skin?

If there is nothing obvious causing her hair loss you could look at allergies. Food allergies can cause itching and hair loss, as @bonepicker  suggested, canned grain-free food is much better than dry. Stress is another factor, does she seem more itchy after she's been left alone for a while? Are there any other triggers you can think of? If she is stressed a feliway diffuser or calming collars might help.

If there is something that you can actually see on her skin maybe you could get a sample of it to show your vet. Have you seen a dermatologist for your own skin problems? I know fungal infections can be passed from animals to people, maybe if you could find out what's causing your problems it would give you a starting point to find out what's wrong with your cat.

A friend's brother (Vietnam vet) has been diagnosed with Morgelleons, among other conditions, including manic depression. As you may know, Morgelleons is a very controversial diagnosis in humans--much less animals. There are many theories as to what causes Morgelleons, one of which is toxic exposure to chemicals used to fight the war in Vietnam.
I would take your cat to either a feline specialist or dermatologist. Good luck!

Many cats, including domestics, have long guard hairs (top coat) on their hind legs and bellies which tend to stick out.

If your cat is acting itchy, you'll want to rule out food or environmental allergies.

She is not itchy those hairs only started about 4 weeks ago about the time we moved into this unit, i was getting bitten so after getting the place sprayed i was still having a reaction to what was biting me. It was only when i noticed the hair on my arms and legs started growing and moving on their own i started looking into different types of mites but i ruled them out after spraying and washing everything.

It was when those hairs appeared on her over 3-4days from the ears, along her sides, backs of her legs and some would stick strait up or go the oppisite direction to the rest of her hair, and when you touch them whatever was in the pores of the skin would push it out followed by a tiny ball of fiber or thread the same colour as her fur ( i dont own any black sheets, towls or carpet) and the same was happening to me. That when i spent a week looking into spiders, mites etc and the only thing that matched all the symptons was these morgellion fibers/parasite. Only when i seen  what they looked like online is when i realised there were all over the fly screens and ceilings.

Dont know if you belive me but when you see these things come out of your skin in front of your eyes, i use a bit of tea tree oil or apple cider vineger on my skin and you can see a hair( which doesnt even look like my hair) grow 1/2 inch in 1-2 minutes. So missi  only licks them when they pop out it feels like when you pull out a ingrown hair but to her she thinks somthing is biting so she starts licking but i will get the parasite shampoo in the morning and some alfalfa tablets toput in the water i read they dont like them.  I'm doing revolution every 2 weeks already and wormed her last week it's a shame i cant use hot bath with tea tree oil and epson salts and apple cider vineger like i do they really hate that looks i washed dog or a cat after 1 hr in the bath.

I go back to the doctor this week he might believe me this time when these things start poping out all over his desk.

if you rent I would move. Did you feel things biting before you moved into this unit? Is it a condo or apartment?

Please do not use anything on her without your vet's approval. Some things can be benign for humans and toxic for cats (garlic for example).

To say that Morgellons is controversial is an understatement. Without going into the debate about its existence in humans, keep in mind that whatever you think Morgellons may be in humans, it doesn't mean they can infect your cat. Humans and felines don't share most pathogens. As noted by others, what we're seeing in the coat appears to be perfectly normal in a cat.

I agree - you are looking at guard hairs. If you've moved recently, then there may have been a shift in the humidity which might make guard hairs (perfectly natural and normal) stick outa bit more and become more noticeable to you.

I agree that cats fur is completely normal. Please do not hurt the cat by bathing it in something weird. It is fine. Your vet knows best. Is revolution once every two weeks needed? U may be hurting the cat.

Revolution is typically given once a month but always follow the vet's recommendation.

The OP's picture definitely shows normal guard hairs. My DMH has black fur on her back legs so the whie guard hairs really stand out. Sometimes the guard hairs stick out in different directions but it's totally normal

Where I live is very dry. The resulting static makes it seem like my kitty's hair is moving on its own. It also makes strange bits of dirt and fibres cling to everything, and gives me bad excema. I haven't found a solution to the static, but I use coconut oil on myself and it works for the itching. I wouldn't try coconut oil on a cat without asking the vet first, ut you might try to on yourself. It also has anti-fungel properties so if your problem involves a fungus itmight help kill it.

Hi yes going through ruling everything out, she is on special dry food diet from vet, even found a fish oil type suppliment for her coat and doubles up as a anti-furball tretment for the overgrooming. But i will have to try and get a video for you. She can only be near me for 5 min before these things start annoying her.

I'm not sure what the climate is like in Brisbane, but did you try a humidifier? If it's very dry static can build up and she might be getting tiny shocks when she comes near you. Even a few bowls of water set out on heaters or near windows where they can evaporate in the sunlight might help.
