Hey guys, about three months ago my 6 year old cat, Jax developed what seemed like a typical URI with sneezing, coughing and both nasal and ocular discharge (both were clear) on just one side of his face. I gave it some time with a round of antibiotics and when nothing changed, I took him in for further examination. The veterinarian determined that the illness was caused ny a mouthful of infected teeth and he motioned to have them pulled (10 teeth). Knowing that Jax had always had bad teeth since I got him from the shelter, I agreed, hoping that it would solve his problems. Another antibiotic was prescribed to help with his previous URI symptoms and to prevent secondary infection. Well, after that round was done, he still had not improved. In fact, he got worse. The discharge became mucosal and yellow in color so I took him back in where a new antibiotic was prescribed...one that had just been approved for use specifically for feline uri's. Nothing. But after the 2nd day if this new antibiotic, Jax's face began to swell on the same side as his runny nose and eye. The swelling is right under his right eye going down the bridge of his nose on that side. His ocular discharge is now mucosal and no longer clear and sometimes he can't open his eye all the way. I took him to a new vet for a 2nd opinion and was told he may need a rhinoscopy and/or a ct scan to see what is going on up there. I have no idea what to expect. He is not running a fever and has maintained a healthy appetite this whole time. Has anyone experienced anything like this??
