I was just thinking this morning when I woke up that it really had been a long time (over a week) since I'd last had a cuddly time with Nikita. She's not a lapcat but occasionally she'll come and snuggle.
Then when I was about to go and shower she came and promptly jumped in my lap purring and settled down and I got struck by just how amazing it is that we can share our lives with these small furry predators.
They're small wild beasts, not programmed to please and be a part of a pack like dogs, yet they'll happily share their lives with us and trust us, not only enough to let us touch their silky soft fur but to go to sleep on us.
It's easy to take this for granted but really it's an absolutely amazing thing.
I've not even mentioned their other perks like being clean, and not really needing to be housetrained. Social enough so that you can keep more than one if you go about it the right way, easy to feed and fun to play with and the purr, is there a nicer sound than a happy purr?
Anyway it really is wonderous that these small, furry, well armed, sleek, muscular, independent, small carnivorous mammals will happily flop on their bellies purring and let us pet them and enjoying the privilege of getting to share our lives with them.
I wanted to share this thought with someone and I figured here would be one place where I wouldn't get attacked or laughed down.
