Is it ok to give my cat catnip everyday? I'm not sure of any negative health problems that may occur. What is the norm? TIA =^.^=
I to agree with Robin. If you give cats catnip everyday, it seems to lose its effectiveness. I too keep toys in a catnip bag and will bring out a new toy or two each week and put the old ones back in the bag. They seem to love it and think the old toys are new toys. They also love those catnip stuffed mouses with the feather tails.Originally Posted by bastetservant
I've read that if cats are exposed to catnip too much, they become immune to its effects. I don't know. I refurbish cat toys by keeping them in a sealed plastic bag with catnip. I bring out "new" ones each week. My cats are very excited at this time - a Sunday morning ritual.

I've never heard of negative effects from catnip but that doesn't mean there aren't any. Mine usually get it a couple of times a week. I do different things with it. Sometimes I'll stuff toys with it. Sometimes I'll just put it on the floor and let them have at it. If I'm using dry organic catnip I'll sometimes hide it but that never works because they see me carrying the bag around and follow meOriginally Posted by cjc
