OK i have a friend who is saying that my cats whiskers are too long and i should cut them, do you think it's a good idea? is it safe? and will it hurt the cat? and don't cat use the whiskers to feel stuff? so i have no idea if to do it or not.
Noooooo! It will hurt! Cats whiskers are extremely sensitive, they're not just hairs. Cutting them would be cruel, ignore your friend.
ETA: they use their whiskers to sense things - feel where things are, judge whether a gap is big enough to get through, and also assist in the cats sense of balance. To cut them would be disabling to your cat.
The cat's whiskers help it maintain its balance and suss out if it can fit into a space. It is very cruel to trim them. Please tell your friend never to do that, there is no cause for it.
By the way, the cat will probably shed whiskers occasionally. This is normal.
