CHELSEA,MAINE (AP) -- A cat that weathered some of the coldest temperatures of the winter while trapped in a metal culvert is safe at home in the central Maine town of Chelsea.
Jack the cat was gone for seven weeks, and his family figured he'd never be seen again. But on Sunday, Jack's family heard a weak meow. David Logan began digging at a snowbank and Jack popped his head out of the culvert.
The family believes the cat was in the culvert under the driveway on February second when a snowplow left a bank of snow blocking the opening. The cat lost half his body weight, and the
family is nursing him back to health.
The latest escapade means Jack has lost four of his nine lives. Logan says the cat earlier survived being hit by a car and slipping through thin ice twice.
