Hello, I am new here and I am sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place.

I have a friend who is fostering some abandoned kittens. She has one mom cat with 8 week old kittens who is doing fine, but she has recently found another litter of kittens abandoned...about three weeks old.

She is trying to get the cat with the older kittens to foster and nurse the new ones.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on getting the mom cat to play surrogate mom to the new babies?

Thanks.

Meg

To be honest, most nursing moms will take on other kittens pretty quick. They usually hesitate at first, but then accept them.
One trick is to put some wet food, or some baby food on the kittens, and it will get her to lick them, and then they will smell like her.
