Cat scheduled for rhinoscopy and suddenly symptoms disappeared...

My cat has been having troubles with his nose for a couple months now, and due to long waits to get into the vet and then specialist we finally have him scheduled for a rhinoscopy on Wednesday. And then, this past Saturday, the majority of his symptoms up and went away. So...now what do I do? Cancel the procedure? I don't want to do unnecessary (and expensive) medical procedures. But I also don't want to cancel it and find out later his nose stopped dripping because the situation was actually worse. I'm going to talk to the vet tomorrow, but if anyone's got experience with this I'd love to have a few other perspectives. I feel like the vets have been very "well you can do what you think is best" during this situation with him, and I get why they might want to "CYA", or not want to make me feel pressured into an expensive procedure. But also you are the vet how do I know what's best? :/

Jack (the cat in question) has been "reverse sneezing" frequently (making an awful throat clearing noise), and one nostril only has been dripping lots of snot, sometimes tinted with blood. He's obviously been very uncomfortable and sometimes mouth breathing. We tried antibiotics and antivirals and the vet concluded it probably wasnt an infection so sent us to a specialist. The specialist did a lung xray and a blood test for common fungus in our area and both came up clear. So now they're thinking it's maybe going to be a nasal polyp, foreign object in his nose or possibly a tumor. She also warned us they might not find anything because cat noses are small and difficult like that. Okay. We're prepared for the expensive nose scoping, hoping to try to get him some relief. And then Saturday morning we woke up to no more snotty nose, no more mouth breathing. It's Monday night, still 0 snot. After months! He does still reverse sneeze once or twice a day, and he does have a very little bit of a noisy breathing thing on occasion. But it's not loud or uncomfortable sounding, and not all day. He seems better! But I don't know if that means he's actually better?

I'd keep the appointment. Especially with the bloody mucus. It may mean he's better, or it may not. Don't take chances, seeing how long it takes to get an appointment.

I'd still go. Our boy had chronic nasal issues that would get worse than better and we had X-rays taken. It turns out he has a small tumor (non cancerous), a deviated septum, as well as the entire left side of the mucus membranes of the nasal cavity have essentially been eaten way because the initial infections were not properly taken care of in his early life (he was a rescue). This makes him susceptible to recurring infections and irritations, because there's nothing in there to trap any "invaders". He will sometimes be perfectly fine for a bit, then all of a sudden have days on end of giant snot rockets and sneezing, then just normal sneezing....it comes and goes.
So it could be that your kitty was able to fight off whatever infection or irritation was there, but due to the long nature of the initial infection/issue, some damage may have been done, or something like a polyp still needs to be removed so I wouldn't take a chance on not going.
And despite our kitty's diagnosis, it's actually quite easy to manage. Pure saline nose drops every once and a while to help clean out his nasal cavity and the possibility of having to use antibiotics periodically if he gets another infection, and it's been 2 years since we had to get him any antibiotics...so we're doing pretty go so far.
