I'm not sure where to start. Uh, So...

I accidentally bought a dog ear cleaning product instead of a cat one. I can't return it or exchange it for a cat ear cleaning product. So i was wondering if it's okay to use it on cats (I has one adult cat and one kitten). Or just save it till some dog owner pops into my life. Or throw it away. I'm not sure.

I bought "Essentials: .Care.Soins." ("Soins" might be French for "Care". But I've never studied french. It's just some guess because half of the bottle seemed to be written in french. Not to mention that it was made in Canada.)  It also says that it's safe; Gentle and removes excess ear wax.
Ingredients: Water, Sodium Chloride; Sodium Borate; Di-sodium EDTA; Boric ACID; Sorbic Acid and FD&C Blue #1.

While there are some products out there that are exactly the same for cats and dogs, there are some that are safe for dogs but toxic to cats. Can you find the ingredient list on the cat product to compare it to the one you have? You can also do a search for each of the ingredients + cats to see what comes up.

Alright, So, Here's the dog ear cleaner that i have:

And here's the cat's version:

(Colors of the bottle only resembles the size of the bottles. Not the type. Gold=Small while Green=Medium.)

So far, I haven't found the ingredients of the cat product.

The only thing so far that worrys me is Sodium Borate. I'm not sure what is it. But i've read articles that basically says it can hurt animals. But i'm not sure.

The dog ear cleaning product photo is a powder and the cat ear cleaning product is a liquid, so I'm a bit confused.

The product is made by Hagen.

Here is the information from the manufacturer: http://www.regulatory-info-hsx.com

Cat ear powder: http://www.regulatory-info-hsx.com/pdf/english/50185.pdf

Cat ear cleaner: http://www.regulatory-info-hsx.com/pdf/english/50185.pdf

Dog ear cleaner: http://www.regulatory-info-hsx.com/pdf/english/70221.pdf

I don't see a dog ear powder listed.

Here is how to contact the company: http://ca-en.hagen.com/contactus

I would call or send an email asap. If you call, Hagan is in Quebec, Canada where the first language is French. Don't panic if you don't speak French. You'll first hear everything in French, then in English.)

Ear powder is not for cleaning---it's for drying inside ears, for dogs who get ear infections from ear moisture. I guess it could work for cats, too, if a cat had ear moisture :dk:. But it's not a cleaner.

Maybe find someone who has a Poodle or a Cocker Spaniel and see if they want it?

It's what i found on the internet. At least, On my search. I guess i was too nervous trying to act quickly that i didn't notice the "powder" tag. My bad! But the dog cleaning product that i own at the moment is a liquid kind. And this is the first time me hearing that there's a powder kind for ear products... things.

I've sent an e-mail already. They said "Please find the below details of your new Hagen Customer Service case#: 141020-000050" I'm a bit puzzled.
