Recently my little lady Bonita A.K.A. Bunny has taken to jumping up on the kitchen countertops and table. In all of the time I have had her she has never done this. She has always hang out on the end tables and the nightstand in my bedroom and I am not bothered by that but I have a different feeling about surfaces where food is prepared and eaten. It started about 2 weeks ago while I was preparing dinner she jumped up on the counter and started nosing around the food. I do not believe in ever hitting or yelling at cats so I just picked her up and put her back on the floor. So far that is all I have been doing because I am really not sure what else to do.Bunny will not relent and just jumps right back up again.Things just keep getting worse I can no longer prepare a meal without her jumping up to investigate. We sit down for dinner and she jumps right up on the table.Rather embarrassing when we have guests over.
Just for the record Bunny never has people food strictly her cat food and kitty treats. So I don't think its a food thing as she will never try to grab any food.
Do you think there is something I am missing as to why she has started doing this?
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions.
Please do not suggest any form of physical correction it makes me cringe.
This is my little Miss right before dinner prep tonight:
