So I've got a bit of a tricky one. There are four cats in our house. Three of the cats belong to my parents and the other cat is mine. Starting about a month ago I switched Fennwick over to canned food due to me not only believing wet food to be healthy, but due to some health factors. Fennwick is doing very well on the canned food and I'm happy with the switch. The other three cats remain on dry kibble because my parents won't feed their cats wet food except for the occasional treat. Two of the cats are unbothered by Fennwick's new diet, but my dad's cat Mir is a different story.
Mir is severely bothered by the fact he isn't getting canned food. He chases Fennwick and me out of the room when it is meal time and is hot on my heels the whole time Fennwick is being fed. I'd say it wasn't a big deal, but it is getting to be. Mir is actually eating less at every meal because he is so focused on the canned food he turns his nose up at the kibble. After pacing around for several minutes he'll finally go to the kibble, take a few bites, and the go pester me again. Mir is not getting enough to eat because he is so focused on Fennwick.
My parents will not switch Mir's diet and there is no way for me to afford a wet diet for two cats. I don't want to jeopardize Mir's health because of this, but I also really don't want to hurt Fennwick's health either. I'm at a bit of a loss on what to do. My father just keeps yelling at me about my selfishness, which it is true I am being selfish in wanting the best for my kitty, but I don't think I'm wrong for it either. I really don't know.
Any suggestions on how to deal with this are welcome and appreciated! Thank you in advance.
