chloe, this is a thread from 2004, so some of these people might not even be posting on this site anymore. We may never know the ending to their stories. Is your boyfriend's cat spayed/neutered? Because cats that are not spayed/neutered can meow loudly at night when they are in heat/smell a cat in heat. Have you tried tiring out the cat with some playing before bed time? That's another "trick". Has this cat been to the vet recently? Sometimes if a cat has a medical issue, they let their owners know by "acting out". As for the collar, if you mean the shock collar mentioned earlier in the discussion, it's not recommended to use one of those on a cat. Many people would consider it abuse because it would hurt the cat's mental state and can make behaviors worse instead of making them stop or get better.
