I am glad that you will have a definite answer soon.  Chances are very good that the bat wasn't carrying rabies so there will be no issue anyway.

Just heard back from the health department - the bat was rabies free! Took her to the vet yesterday and got all of her shots re-upped. The vet confirmed yesterday that December was not too far out and she was most likely in the clear, but I'm very excited to have it confirmed. The shot she got yesterday lasts for three years, so we're in good shape. Thanks again everyone for all of your advice and support. Really appreciate it!
