Okay so where i lived before I never had a problem getting a vet appointment right away if I needed it. There were lots of vets, shelters and human societies. Where I am now, not so much. My cat is behaving very strangely. She is a very sweet and social little animal, young and very healthy. I noticed once or twice yesterday that she seemed like maybe she was going to throw-up a hair ball she made this lips smacking noise that she does just before puking, but didn't throw-up. I counted myself lucky and thought nothing of it.
Then I noticed her doing it again last night. This morning she started hiding and when I came home today she didn't greet me at the door or do any of her usual behaviors. I lured her out very briefly with some treats, but then she hid again. I lure her out with a toy, and got her to sit in my lap while I tried to figure out what was going on. I got a look at her and noticed she was salivating a lot, and also kind of grubby which is definitely unusual as she is very good about keeping her self clean. Still she I let her sit in my lap, she got comfortable and after we'd been sitting for two or three minutes she tensed all over like maybe she was going to sneeze or something, squeaked shook her head to shake away the drool and hid again.
This time I got to see her hiding place and offered her some treats. The treats lured her out, but then she decided not to eat them. Sometimes I give her a little bit of cheese or yogurt if I am getting those foods for myself. Yesterday she seemed interested in having some cheese, but when I put down a few pieces of it for her she sniffed and walked away. I'm wondering now if this wasn't the start of whatever is going on with her.
I have a vet appointment for Friday, but I don't think I should wait that long. Has anyone ever had a cat with this kind of symptom or behavior any ideas about what might be going on?
