My little cat Leeloo has been in labor for a while. She is doing well, but is slightly confused I think. Two kittens are out so far, but the mommy have not removed the umbilical cord from either of  the kitties.

When should I remove it and how do I do it? The first kitten was born 19.53 so it's been a little while.

Do it after a while, you dont need to do it immedietely, good the rest of the blood has run into the kitten.

Sever the cord with your nails, a little severing like mom would bite off.

Not too near the kitten!

You can also use a blunt scissor.  Do NOT use sharp scissor!

Some use a sew thread, but it is to overdo a little. Nails are just fine.

You shall be clean, but you dont need to be sterile. Moms teeths arent.

Good luck!

I waited a while longer and after resting she got up and ate the rest.

Mom and kittens are doing well! :)

Three beautiful babies. Two males and one female.
