Hello All - I don't have much knowledge on this condition, but wanted to get some input. My sister's cat is in kidney failure. She started with the IV fluids about a month ago twice a week. It was going fine and the cat was eating and drinking. Well, just this week that cat stopped eating, but is still drinking, and sleeping most of the time. The vet said there is nothing more they can do and that she should start giving him the fluids twice a day for the next couple of days until he starts eating again.
My question is: My sister is going out of town this Friday for 4 days. I'm really worried that this cat might pass while she is gone. Is it possible for him to come around again after the fluids... or he is close to death? I've heard of cats living a long time on the fluids. He is 15 years old.
