I have posted this in nutrition as well to see if this could possibly be a food issue but thought I'd post here to see if anyone has any insights or if they'd still feel concerned.
My cat Marla whose nearly 2 years old. I swapped her over a month ago to a Science plan urinary tract diet because my eldest cat (whose now been missing over a month) had a chronic bladder condition. My vet told me just to feed them both it, it'd be fine to save money and save me feeding separately, she's been on it about 8 weeks now, at first she had bowel troubles then it cleared up and she went to toilet normally just had loud wind when she went (not sure if this is normal) anyways the other night Thursday night I think it was, I fed her but overfed her by accident as I poured it in the dark and I couldn't pick it all up, on Friday morning (before I had a chance to feed her again) she started being sick violently, she was sick maybe every 10-15 minutes for around 5 hours. I took her to first vets appointment my vet could give me and they gave her an anti-emetic, anti-inflammatory, antibiotic and zantac. They said she had a high temperature so shouldn't be anything to worry about and it'll pass. When she got home she was sick one more time (guessing before the anti emetic kicked in) and then hasn't been since. She's drunk a bit of fluid but refusing food (hasn't ate in 2 days) tried her with a bit of wet food before just the wet kitten food as all I have bar the Science plan stuff at the moment... And she just licked it really, she maybe ate two mouthfuls then left it so still off her food.
She also did not move from around 12pm yesterday till 5am this morning. So I was concerned but then she perked up then, and wanted cuddled and was purring, she's moved around a bit today, being cuddled, attacked my kitten playfully a couple of times, but most the time she's been asleep. Most of the day to be honest, she seems fed up.
Could it be the food even if she's still not feeling great and doesn't want to eat? Should I be concerned or does this just sound like something that'll pass especially as she's perked up. And she has had a bit of fluid so not too worried about dehydration, what's everyone's thoughts?
I am also worried as I have a phobia of illness in case I can catch it from her? Because I cleaned her up and I have been cuddling and taking care of her, I should be okay shouldn't I? Also worried about my 10 week old kitten in case contagious to cats..... But after 2 days he should have shown symptoms by now surely? He seems perfectly fine and no bowel issues or nothing.
Thanks for listening!
