Hello,

I am new to this thread. I don't know where else to turn to as my regular vet has no other option.

Basically my Bengal cross male cat has bad gum disease. We have been back and forth to the vets and two of his teeth had already been extracted.

Now the problem has come back and one of his tooth is starting to decay and red gum lines reappearing again.

The vets told me that this time round they are unable to operate on Nero, he had complications waking up to the anesthetics last time round.

So I have now left with no option at all. What do I do? I have tried mouth rinses and I've been back to vets to give him some injections to stop the redness but they only last two weeks max.
The vets even said that it's not good continuing the injections as it has a toll on his liver.

I know many of you have the option to get the tooth removed but I really don't know what to do know.

Has any off you had the same problem before?

Sometimes He shivers when he's I. Lap lap. I can only imagine the pain in his gums. What of it gets to worse of the worse? They squids they cannot operate on him.

please help.

Have you consuled with a board certified veterinary dentist? They have additional training and experience with dental issues than "regular" vets. If you're in the US, you can search for a board certified dental vet here. Other countries may have a similar veterinary dentistry association.

Have you tried brushing your cat's teeth? That may help some along with the dental rinse but some cats are just prone to dental issues no matter what.

Hello thanks for the reply. The link doesn't seem to work and I've looked and there's doesn't seem to be any association like that here in the UK.

I used to brush his teethalot it didn't help. He had the problem as he is now. I don't think brushing his teeth is going to help heal his teeth now. The tooth itself looks like it's rotting away with alot of redness.

Wondering if any people out there with any experiences ago could code me.
Any hello slackers thanks

One of my cats had gingivitus at 5 months old. Had tests for calico and other viruses. All negative. At that time I looked for a dental specialist but the nearest to me was Bangor in north Wales or Scotland. Neither near me. My vet suggested sticking to poultry food and avoiding fish. She is 17 months now and still has it but it doesnt seem to bother her although it is a constant worry to me. My vet also had a cat with severe gingivitus that turned out to be an allergy to a hedge in the garden that it spent a lot of time under. The owner's cut the hedge down and the gingivitus disappeared.

It looks as if there are many causes of the problem. How old is your cat

Thank you for the kind responses so far.
My cat is 8 years old. He is an indoor cat.
He also had had the blood test done and all came out normal except his urine a little high but vet said nothing to worry about.

The tooth that has gone bad, has a hole in it with a red dot, the vet said it is not looking too Good.

I use the hexarinse the vet recommended, doesn't seem to be working toowell unless he has the injection which only last two weeks on him but we can't keep having these injections as it could take a toll on his liver.

Seems like I have no choice at all as he could have complications if we were to go under surgery.the vet don't recommend this.
