what would  the out come be if my Siamese mix (pointed domestic??)and my pure bred Himalayan had kittens. I would like to see other answers now that ive learned more about it

My siamese mix looks exactly like a seal tortie apple head, her mother was calico and her father is unknown.

my pure bred himalyan had a dramatic face flame point father and a doll faced lynx point mother.

with that being said would my female carry the pointed gene since she is a pointed domestic? would they produce mostly pointed kittens? if they would produce more domestic looking cats would they be darker? like black? very interested in learning about cat genes :)

As both the male and female are points, boths do carry double point genes.   Thus, all their children should be pointed, unless there is some freak of the nature.

One is longhaired, one is shorthaired. The longhaired has thus double gene for longhair, the shorthaired one gene or none longhaired gene.  The children will thus be either shorthaired (most probable), or half each, say two longhaired, two shorthaired - if the shorthair parent is a carrier..

Their grandchildren?  There will be new recombinations... If you let the relatives mate (not recommendable), you can steer the outcome

(the genetics for points and for  longhair is rather similiar, both are recessive genes)

How it will be with colors, I dont know, Im no specialist on cat colors.  Gemsgem and Willowy are good at color genetics, of our at this moment active forumists.

Maewkaew is a marvel, but she isnt much participating for the moment.

Otherwise you can surely try at the new expert Forum, run by prof Lyons.   I dont know if she is expert on cat colors, but she surely can a lotsa about cat genetics, not least, diseases carried on genetically (which is the professors main research field)

Good luck!

I guess it will tend to go towards the average, ie somewhat between doll and the regular domestic.   Although I think there will still be traces "there may be a persian somewhere in the background".

What is dramatic here?  Is this the "smashed in" face of the modern persian?
