Hi All,
I recently adopted (2) cats from SPCA, a boy and a girl. Thought I would get two so they could play together. They do play together and generally get along well...but they are not letting me sleep in and are destroying my new house! I am having to raise the blinds daily and installed cord cleats to tie up the cords because my girl kitty absolutely loves those cords. She is constantly trying to reach them and bite them and take them and run. My bedroom and bathroom have honeycomb shades for room darkening and I am afraid they are going to rip them down. So I have been using squirt bottle consistently when they try to get into these blinds. I've read here that, that isn't the best method. My question is, then what do I do about this? These are not cheap blinds and if they destroy them, then what??
I am about ready to let them outside, but I know that's not the best answer, especially here in Nevada, we have coyotes and hawks. I am seriously considering building a pet enclosure with a tunnel from the house for them.
My last cat died last summer and she was 19 yrs old. She always could go in and out as she wanted and never really wandered. She stayed in the yard. I've never had cats they only stayed indoors, so not sure how this is gonna work for me. I've always love cats and since my last kitty was easy maintenance, she ate kibbles only and I could leave for the weekend with no problem. These new cats want wet food twice a day! Not sure how I am gonna be able to leave town now. Not as low maintenance as I was expecting.
I am very frustrated with them right now. I need to find a balance with them and their behavior. Thanks for reading.
