Hi all -
My cat, Alex, has recently taken to scratching at the underside of my mattress. I have a platform bed, with the mattress laying directly on the wooden slats. I've found a few small tears in the mattress fabric, but nothing too major - I trim his claws regularly, so that probably helps limit the damage. That said, I don't want it to get any worse.
I think he maybe thinks of the slats as a kind of jungle gym, and he usually goes crazy with them at night, which is a bit irritating when I want to sleep. Any ideas on how to deter him? I'm thinking maybe putting some two sided carpet tape on the parts of the mattress that are exposed between the slats. Or maybe getting a vinyl mattress enclosure?
