Cat Carrier for 20+ lb cats

I will soon be flying with my cat Fred. My parents purchased him a cat carrier that I picked out on Amazon that is for "large cats up to 22 lbs" but he REFUSES to go in it. I think his whiskers are hitting the side. Any idea of where I can purchase a soft carrier that will fit him? He's a pretty large cat and I don't want him to be crammed for 3 hours. I have a hard carrier that he fits in but I don't think the airline will approve of it.

If you are flying he will probably be cramped no matter what. There's not a lot of space under those seats...
