Hi, I know nipples have come up a lot but just wanted to check. At times my cat nipples go super pale, almost as if they’ve lost circulation or milk is rushing to the surface. She’s 59 days today. Yesterday a little bead of milk was on the tip of one of them. Just wanted to check it all looked normal in any of your experience. The photos attached doesn’t show then paleness to extreme that I’ve seen it. Thank you 😊

She looks just fine and ready to pop in the next week. Her milk will come in fully just before or just after giving birth.

Thank you! I always think about a million things. I started tracking her temperature 2 days ago. So far we had 36.9, 37.2 and 37.3 today. Any experience on how reliable the drop below 37.2 is in terms of labour starting in 24 hours?

Tracking temperature is unreliable and unnecessary. Mother Nature is in control here and, regardless of temperature changes, she’ll have them when the kittens and her body are ready. At 59 days, the kittens would be premature. They are still developing until 63-65 days. Every day in utero is critical for kittens, unlike human babies who can survive early delivery better.

Yes I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed she makes it to at least 63 days! Thank you for letting me know about temperature, it’s hard to find reliable information online.

Hi all, my cat gave birth last night to 7 healthy kittens. Mum is eating and drinking water but hasn’t used the litter tray since before contractions started- at what point do I need to worry? I’m 99% sure all placentas came out.

She’ll go when she’s ready. My cat did not get up to go for a good 12 hours after giving birth.

Your cat‘s instincts are to nurse and rest for a good while first.

Seven is a big litter. Are all kittens latching and nursing? Have you weighed them?

Please see this current thread for info on a large litter:
