Can you explain this?

Fang and Pansy go nuts for catmint(nepata I think). they roll on it, rub their heads on it, eat it etc. Spike (alfa cat) is not phased in the least. I hold it right up to his nose, and he just ignores it. Why is he immune? and do you think this is one of the qualities that makes him the alfa?

No - I believe about a third of cats show no reaction what so ever to catnip. Click on the Plain Brown Tabby link at the bottom of the page for more info and more ideas.

Catnip just does not affect some cats. Most of the cats I have had over the years have been completely uninterested in it.
