I think definitely yes.I have multiple male friends, who I've been friends with for years and the BF has many female friends who he's known his entire life. I see no problems with it, although there will be some people of the opposite gender who don't have good intentions, so if I were ever to pick up on some bad vibes I'd be sure to cut that person out of my life.
